It was back in Season 85 when a young standout from Laguna joined the San Beda Red Spikers. Beaming with so much promise and talent, his debut in the NCAA was a blast. He joined the team's powerhouse cast of Evan Laraya, Von Mabazza and Rocky Honrade. The team had a rookie-laden squad during Season 85 and he was considered as the priced recruit of the team. Nonetheless, he was able to prove that he was. Though the Red Spikers failed to win the Best-of-Three Finals against Letran on that year, the Rookie Lorenzo Capate already made an impact to the league. A well-known sports commentator said that he plays like a "rookie-veteran." A moniker that made heads turn while people kept an eye on him during games. With his high-leaping ability, his contribution to the team's offensive arsenal was big. His versatility as a player was also admired because he can also provide defensively. Pure athleticism and composure are enough proof for us to all agree: This kid's for real. People have seen growth and maturity on him during the past three seasons. He was named as the Best Scorer for Season 86 and Season 87. A feat that made his fans even more excited to see more of him in action. The knock on him though, is what he could bring to the table now that he seems to be fully capable of helping his team cap it's first-ever men's volleyball crown. Trust that they'll take the league by storm, and that for most of them, they can't wait any longer. This could be their time. And as for that proverbial torch? It may not be passed on to them, they might just take it by force.
